I-70 reopens after avalanche danger


Stranded travelers take refuge inside Summit Middle School, Monday morning, Dec. 31, 2007, near Breckenridge, Colo. More than 2,000 travelers remained stranded at Red Cross shelters in the Colorado high country on Monday as the threat of avalanches kept more than 60 miles of Interstate 70 closed west of Denver. Wind-whipped snow and avalanche danger closed the main highway through the Colorado mountains for most of Monday, stranding hundreds of travelers.
